The Bridge of the Mournful Hearted

It’s just a bridge it may seem
But only in the brightest dream
There the best of stories end
And create wounds that never mend
For every night a lover grieves
The loss of the other on a summers eve
On the bridge of the mournful hearted

The lovers were young so filled with joy
But all to well it was deathly ploy
The boy was haunted by troubles and fears
But a golden vision reappears
An end to all and the perfect portal
In the end it was all to mortal
On the arch of the nearly departed

He repented all his sins in life
And wrote a note to his soon to be wife
He said to her be good to our son
But for me the fight cannot be won
He went to the bridge at mortem creek
And chose a beam that wouldn’t be weak
On the span of the tragedy started

He fastened himself good and tight
Then he jumped and put out the light
With a length of rope and the will to jump
He made his heart cease to pump
And what was once a place of fair and fairer
Is now the eminence of terror
On the link of the lovers parted

She visited that place every day
Even when in the ground she lay
Still in spirit you can hear
Every day of every year
Yet with all the respects she may pay
She and the bridge will always stay
On the bridge of the mournful hearted........
