There’s nothing there.
No tweak of the eyeball,
no puff of breath on the exhale.
No extra blood cells racing into capillaries,
no furrows lacing up the brow.

The heart rate doesn’t deviate -
unless it already was flattening
in which case it stays on course.

The feet don’t demand
or inflating
It is more
and less than disgust.
a different route,
bile doesn’t rise,
the tongue doesn’t crawl with fuzz.
No difference registers.

There’s no passionate glare.
There’s nothing there.
