When the Cows Come Home

At daybreak we rise as they leave,
As we eat we remember all the times they weave,
As we work we wonder where they go,
At noon we think about the light
In the rain, sleet, hail, or snow
It blinds us for it is bright
You can feel the heat of day
Slowly, slowly fade away
Oh, what a powerful sight
As the day turns into night
That’s when the cows come home.
