The LNA Training Program prepares adult students to pass the state exam required to obtain a license as a nursing assistant. The course focuses on the essentials for a nursing assistant`s safe and effective practices for care in a health care setting. Students will learn the basics of assisting patients, body mechanics, ethics and communication. Clinicals are held at a nursing home TBD. The Tuesday/Thursday night LNA class is designed especially for adults who have been out of school for some time, or who are still learning the English language. However, students must have a command of the English language as evidenced by a high school diploma, GED, or a Vermont Adult Learning assessment recommendation. This assessement is free but VAL must be contacted.  See application for more details. Payment in full is expected prior to the first class. Students must be 18 by first clinical session. Students who meet all the prerequisites listed above are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Day/Time:   Classroom/lab(80 hours) meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5-9 p.m., from October 3, 2017 until December 13, 2017. Clinical instruction (32 hours) takes place January 8, 2018 for two weeks at Burlington Health and Rehab.  Mandatory Orientation is on Thursday, September 21 at 5 p.m.   No classes on the weeks starting November 20, 2017, December 25, 2017, and January 1, 2018.

Cost:   $1,200.00 (additional costs include a $130 testing fee, a $20 Nursing Board fee, and the cost of a background check)
